Attendance in major Canadian Mathematics competitions is common for students who attend London International Academy. This past November was no different as 54 of London International Academy’s students participated in the University of Waterloo’s Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest (CSMC). With a student body of just 200, the interest and attendance was spectacular. Prior to becoming principal, Mr. Paul Debenham taught mathematics and physics for five years at London International Academy, so the CSMC competition and results are of great interest to him. “Our students have enjoyed great success in both gaining Ontario secondary school credits and in winning gold medals and obtaining certificates of distinction in international mathematics and physics contests,” he said earlier this year, as students were busy studying and preparing for the competition back in November. Students look forward to seeing how they rank against each other, as well as against students at other Canadian schools. If a student achieves a mark placing them in the top 25% of the contestants, they are awarded a Certificate of Distinction. London International Academy is proud to announce that Edward Zixuan Wang was awarded a Gold Medal Distinction for his results and 25 of its students were awarded Certificates of Distinction. Edward said he studied very hard for the competition and his parents are very proud of his achievement. When I asked him if he had hoped to get such a high mark in the contest he replied that he had certainly thought about it!
Congratulations again to all!
